Hello
everybody! Our apologies to those who come to our website
on a regular basis for the WEEK IN REVIEW and have not seen
any new updates. The summer has been crazy for us. We hope
we can make it up to you, starting now! So much to talk about…
Let’s
just call this the MONTH IN REVIEW, shall we? Ok, then…
To
start, we would all like to wish our friend “Bigger
Rob” good luck in the future. (ok, Theresa, stop crying!)
Rob has been an avid SPEED fan, for a while, now, but is moving,
and we will miss him dearly… Vegas, baby, Vegas! If
anyone happens to be stumbling through The Bellagio, just
look for the tallest guy there and tell him we said hi, remind
him to get us a gig, and tell him I want my ten bucks!
In
other news, it looks like my little chat with God has paid
off in bringing us better weather for the month of July. (yeah,
I happened to mention that to him while revisiting my dinner,
one blurry night) This month has been beautiful, and it has
seemed to remind people that Summer is actually here!
FAVORITE
NEW PLACES TO COME SEE SPEED:
Working
our way up the Northeast Corridor, we begin in Long Beach
Island, at a place called The Marlin. These people really
know how to bring the intensity! Ok, we might have been spoiled
by the 4th of July holiday madness, Great staff, and awesome
pizza, but from what they tell us, it’s like that all
the time! Special thanks to long time SPEED faithfuls: Dana,
Christy, and the crew, and a cameo appearance by Doorman Dave
and other OD alumni. We’ll see you back there Sunday,
July 27th (…a date that we sacrificed going to see Tom
Jones in A.C., I might add!)
START
SPREADIN’ THE NEWS! We make our next stop in Long Island,
NY, at THE INN, in Long Beach. WOW! What a great place! With
80’s-dancing bartenders, no-holds-barred DJ’s,
flying napkins, and a party that doesn’t stop until
4am, how could you go wrong? Definitely worthy of a road trip
from our local friends! We return to this little slice of
heaven, right here on Earth, Saturday, August 16th. Special
shout out to my new dance partner, Michelle Walsh, and the
“New York Ave Girls”!
OLD
FAV’S: The Ocean Drive in Sea Isle City, NJ is always
where SPEED has made its home, and this summer is no different.
Thanks to everybody coming out and making Tuesdays a good
time, including all the off-duty-OD staffers! EXTRA SPECIAL
PROPS go out to our boys in THE COLLECTIVE, with whom we share
the Saturday Afternoon Jam. SPEED and THE COLLECTIVE have
come together to form, probably, the best “tag-team”
partnership since the British Bulldogs! You have to see and
hear it for yourself…
Added
note: We’d like to wish long time OD bartender/Speed
groupie/friend, Chris “Rollo” Allerton best of
luck in future endeavors. The place won’t be the same
without you!
Avalon
and Stone Harbor, we didn’t forget about you…
We’d like to welcome back the “Paper Bag Bunch”,
and other long-time faithfuls. We return to Jack’s Place
in Avalon, NJ, Thursday, August 14th. (Insider information:
Keep checking the website for added Jack’s and Fred’s
dates!)
Working
our way North, we’ve gotta send a HUGE shout out to
our friends in Bean town! I’m talking about The Harp,
in Boston. Special thanks to all the fine staff, including
our friendly neighborhood bartender, Katie, making her way
up the ranks, and Meghan.
Well,
that should just about do it, for now. I’ll try to keep
this thing as fresh as possible, so keep checking back, and
